Creating this piece was so much fun. I was able to combine a bunch of my skills and design one of my first video art creations. I used a multitude of programs including Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, Adobe Premier Pro, as well as the animation feature of Procreate. This project allowed me to experiment within all of these programs, resulting in my final video. The background of the video was created in Illustrator, as were the swirls.
The stylized astronaut, spaceship, and UFO were created in Procreate, as was the short shooting star animation. All movement from the stars, swirls, etc. was created using Premier Pro. The theme of the piece is focused on space. I attempted to capture the loneliness of being stuck in space while surrounding by its beauty.
This project focused on becoming more comfortable using Illustrator. The project brief suggested that I think of a word and design it to be so obscure, that it couldn't be read. Studying the art of graffiti helped me through this process. After creating the image in Illustrator, I then used Photoshop to make it appear as if it was a mural on a wall in my school.
The main goal of this project was to create a story. It didn't need to be incredibly detailed, but I decided that I wanted to test my abilities on Procreate. I used the pencil tool in multiple shades of black and gray.
My story is about a young ghost girl struggling in a world full of people because she is invisible. But, every Halloween she is able to leave her home, dressed as a "ghost" and during this time, she meets a human boy. The viewer watches their relationship progress each Halloween, watching them grow together.
